Raspberry Pi launches a new artificial intelligence camera in cooperation with Sony

Raspberry Pi has launched a new artificial intelligence camera, in a move aimed at nerds and programmers interested in Computer Vision projects.

The new camera is the result of a collaboration between Raspberry Pi and Sony that began in 2023. The camera is characterized by its compatibility with all single-board computers produced by Raspberry Pi.

The camera is based on the Sony IMX500 image sensor and offers a resolution of almost 12.3 megapixels. It also includes a built-in RP2040 microcontroller for managing neural network firmware, which allows the camera to perform AI image processing internally without the need to consume the resources of the main Raspberry Pi device.

The camera provides a new alternative to the Raspberry Pi AI Suite, giving users greater flexibility in integrating AI technologies within their projects.

However, the new camera will not replace the existing Raspberry Pi 3 camera module, which will still be available for purchase.

The artificial intelligence camera is now available for purchase through authorized Raspberry Pi distributors at a price of 70 US dollars
